Apologies in advance for the brief entry tonight, but on to the results:
The four contestants leaving us are:
- Luke Menard, who all but assured himself of an early trip home by choosing Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go on Tuesday,
- Danny “Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That” Noriega, who sang Tainted Love. I’ll miss Danny. Seriously. He wasn’t good, but he was who he was, and I salute anyone willing to face the world on those terms.
- Kady Malloy, who presciently offered up Who Wants To Live Forever. In Idol terms, she lived about 24 more hours.
- Asia’h “Gratuitous Suffix” Epperson, who really wasn’t that bad this week, but neither was she a standout. Going first in the night may have sealed her fate, she was just forgotten by the end of the show.
It was a pretty good week for me, prediction wise… I got three out of four (Asia’h, Kady, and Luke.) My odd one out was Chikezie, who I actually think can sing, but his performances just haven’t been very good so far.
My early thought is that this is easily the best overall top 12 we’ve ever seen. There’s one glaring weak spot – namely Amanda – and a couple of others who I’m not sold on (Ramilie, Michael) but all in all a very good group. Other than Amanda, nobody is as bad as Sanjaya, who went to the top 7 last year.
Who’ll show up next week? Who’ll replace Danny as the picked-on contestant? Join me here next week and find out. In the meantime, please take a second and offer up your own opinions on the season 7 idols.

I still can’t figure out why Amanda is even on the show in the first place. She growls (off key, no less) and has ZERO personality. Is she destined to be the next Sanjaya? Is it too much to ask that people please vote for the best and not the worst? Just my opinion. And I also agree that Danny should not have gone home last night.
