Wednesday, January 14th, 2009After two nights, it’s clear that Kansas City is a more talented town than Phoenix.
American Idol Season 8 – First Show, January 13 2009
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009The show opens with What A Wonderful World which is a fantastic song, and a completely terrible choice to open a new season of Idol, since the tempo basically quashes any energy and anticipation we might have had going into the new season. Hopefully it’s not setting the stage for the whole season.
Idol Update – Cook and Caldwell? Run, David. Run.

American Idol Top 3 Results Show – Season 7, May 14 2008
Wednesday, May 14th, 2008One Idol leaves their final gluteus impression in the Sofa of Safety, Ryan reinforces the notion he’s a dick, and Paula fails yet another in a long line of vocabulary tests. Who got the axe tonight and who will be in the finals next week?

American Idol Top 4 Results Show – Season 7, May 7 2008
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008Hi everyone, and welcome to the American Idol Top 4 results show from May 7, 2008. The singing is over, the votes are in, and we’ll be dropping from four to three remaining contestants tonight. In the wake of last night’s show, my pick (and, seemingly, the pick of every other commentator on the net) [...]
American Idol Top 4 Performances – Season 7, May 6 2008
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008The end is in sight. We lost Brooke last week, leaving us with Jason Castro, Syesha, David Cook, and David Archuleta. My favorite to win for a number of weeks has been David Cook. Jason is a one-trick pony (the 1970s mellow acoustic thing,) Syesha belongs on Broadway, and David Archuleta is just way past his sell-by date. How did they do tonight?
American Idol Top 5 Results Show – April 30, 2008 (Season 7)
Wednesday, April 30th, 2008The top five launch into a Neil Diamond medley; Jason leads off, and you would think he was bad, but he’s immediately followed by David Archuleta who really stinks up the joint. But it doesn’t stop there; David Cook tries to attitude his way through rather than sing, Brooke is wishy washy, and Syesha is perhaps worst of all. They sound anemic. Maybe they don’t have time to adequately rehearse these, or maybe this odd blend of Idols just have voices based on sound waves that cancel each other out, but this performance was just a steaming dungheap, plain and simple.
